Drop the Word

By Matt Freire

Drop the word as if it was your last word
Drop the word as if you were giving life
Drop the word as if it were your last breath
Drop the word as if you could make it right

Drop the word about night and the day
Or drop it about the morning sunrays
Drop the word about the stinging bees
Drop the word about you and me
Drop the word about the past
Drop the word so others can last
Drop the word to help a friend
Drop the word as if you could help all men

Drop the word as if it was your last word
Drop the word as if you were giving life
Drop the word as if it were your last breath
Drop the word as if you could make it right

And if it were your last word would you cuss?
And if it were your last word would you make a fuss?
About people who you do not trust
And all the time you missed the bus
And all the phalanges that flipped you off
And all the people that pissed you off
And all the hate that you feel
And all the bases you could not steal
And all the chances that you let swim by
And all people that made you cry
And all hurt that you feel
And all the pain that's too real

Drop the word as if it was your last word
Drop the word as if you were giving life
Drop the word as if it were your last breath
Drop the word as if you could make it right

And if it were your last word would you yell
And if was your last word who would you tell
Would you tell it to a stranger?
Would you speak down a well?
Or would you say it on the news
Or would you write an email
Or would you send in a letter
Through the old fashion mail
Would it be a friend?
Or would you not care and just say oh well

Drop the word as if it was your last word
Drop the word as if you were giving life
Drop the word as if it were your last breath
Drop the word as if you could make it right

And if it were you last word would you scream
And if it were your last word would you make a seen
Would you say something nasty or something obscene?
Would you speak of Jesus?
Would you speak of a dream?
Or would you speak of poor folk?
Or of the rich and the kings
Would you wish for more time?
Would you go graciously?
Would you cry to your mom?
Or would you despise what you don’t believe

And if it were you last word would it be fancy
Or something simple for you and me
Would it be in lamens terms?
Or would it be hard to reach
Would it be heart felt or just the shoot of the breeze?

And if it was your last thought
Would you want it to be known?
What are you thinking about girls and phones?
Guys and their money weed or cologne
If you got that girl pregnant
If your rhymes will be known
If you apologized for that
Or do you need another clove
All the cars you wish you’d a drove
All the guys you wish you’d bone
All the girls you think are hoes
All the chances you have blown

And if that was your last thought
Would you wish for another?
Would you think about your dad?
Mother sister or brother
Would you say I love you out loud?
Hoping that their ears will here you cries
Would you think of the past?
Or would you let the grudges die?

Drop the word as if it was your last word
Drop the word as if you were giving life
Drop the word as if it were your last breath
Drop the word as if you could make it right

And it just so happens that it my chance
To drop some words to put you in a trance
But at first when I thought of the last word I would spray
The thought of two symbols in my mind did display
A bird on one finger
And a dove on two fingers
And then I thought about it
Is that really what I would want to linger?
Love and a hateful little stinger of a finger
And so I decided I wouldn’t wont either
But I would say
I don’t know what would I say
Would I say I was glad?
Would I love you dad?
Would I praise my self for not wearing all the fads?
Would I shake my fist and just be really mad
No
I spoke so much in life about just things
No I think the best thing I could say would be nothing

Life as we see it
Is just Death?
And that’s reality
Time has got control of me
I control my destiny

Hopefully I would have lived my life so I wouldn’t have to say anything
So that the ones who love me know I loved them and the ones that hate me respect me for who I am

Live the life as if you were a roll model
Live the life as if you were giving life
Live the life as if you could change a life
Live the life as if you loved all life
